The Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday produced a challan in the Court of Judge Small Causes here accusing a man of cheating a student of Rs 10 lakh on the pretext of providing admission in a post-graduation course.
The case was filed against Wiqar Manzoor Wani of Kupwara who reportedly ran a consultancy in Srinagar.
The complainant alleged that he approached the consultancy to secure admission for his daughter who had completed MBBS in a course outside Kashmir.
Wani promised do that and took Rs. 10 lakh from the complainant but he neither got her admitted nor did he return the money.
Another complaint said Wani has similarly grabbed Rs.9 lakh from another person.
