As part of its ongoing efforts to curb illegal gambling activities and maintain peace and public order, Police have arrested two gamblers in Pulwama and seized stake money from their possession.
Acting on reliable information regarding gambling activities at a public place near Marriage Hall, Murran, a police party from Police Station Pulwama immediately swung into action and conducted a raid at the spot. During the operation, two accused persons were arrested on the spot. Tehy have been identified as Mohd Saleem Sheikh Gh. Nabi Sheikh resident of Murran, and Imtiyaz Ahmad Ganie son of Mohd Shafi Ganie resident of Murran. However, four other individuals managed to flee from the spot and efforts are on to nab the accused persons.
Officers have seized playing cards along with stake money amount of ₹9,000/- from their possession. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 13/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pulwama, and investigation has been taken up.
Police remains committed to maintain public order and urges the general public to cooperate by reporting any unlawful activities.(JKNS)
