Solves blind murder case
Srinagar: Police today claimed to have arrested a youth gang who robbed people by picking them in their vehicle and have also allegedly murdred a man.
A police spokesman said that a number of citizens had complained to police that they were robbed of their money and mobile phones by some youth while travelling in their vehicle in Srinagar.
Following investigations, police arrested the three robbers, identified as Mohammad Khalil Najar @ Yawar son of Manzoor Ahmad Najar, Icon Parvaiz @ Majid son of Parvaiz Ahmad Mir, both from Batpora, Hazratbal and Faheem Malik son of Abdul Hamid resident of Mulfak, Hazratbal.
The three were traveeling in a Maruti Car bearing registration number JKOIF-7710 at TRC Srinagar which they used for carrying out the crime.
The spokesman said two among them alongwith another associate namely Mehrajudin Dar @ Makooda son of Ghulam Hassan Dar of Maisuma Srinagar are involved in a murder.
During investigations, the spokesman sid that the they revealed that on September 29 Mohammad Khalil Najar @ Yawar, Icon Parvaiz along with another associate Mehrajudin Dar @ Makooda had picked up Mehrajudin Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat r of Kralyar, Rainawari, in a Tavera vehicle bearing registration number JKOIT-6598 at Dalgate.
On reaching Padshahi bagh they snatched Rs.18,000 from him and strangulated him with a shoelace and then they threw his body at Khalilul Rehman lane in Sanat Nagar, he said.
The spokesman siad on October 10 evening, the arrested trio gave lift to Safu-ud-din Lisree son of Nazir Ahmad of Ghadi Reasi in a Maruti Car bearing registration number JKO2U-4455.
They robbed Rs.7500 from him and later dropped him at Sanat Nagar area, he siad.
On october 11, they again picked up to Ghulam Nabi Bhat son of Abdul Ahad of Guthpora Budgam at Hyderpora in a car bearing registration number JKOIF-7710.
“On reaching Tengpora Bridge they beat him resulting in severe injuries to both his eyes. Besides, snatched his ATM Card with its code, Mobile Phone and cash Rs. 950 and later dropped him near Barzulla Bridge,” he said.
Further investigation led to the recovery of a wallet containing Identity Card, driving license, documents, a rope, Tavera vehicle bearing registration number JKOIT-6598, robbed mobile phones, ATM Card, cash with two toy pistols and a sharp edged knife. (KNS)
