Police organises Women’s Self-Defence awareness programme in Handwara

Plantation drives organised under ‘Sawa Parv’

 Reaffirming its commitment towards public safety and community-oriented policing, Police in Handwara organised Women’s Self-Defence Awareness Programme at GHSS Villgam. Besides, plantation drives were also organised in jurisdiction of PS Handwara.

Women’s Self-Defence awareness programme was organised at Government Higher Secondary School, Villgam. The programme was aimed at sensitising young women about the importance of self-defence and equipping them with the confidence and knowledge to protect themselves in adverse situations. Officers delivered awareness lectures, highlighting various safety measures and preventive techniques that women can adopt in their daily lives, besides they were encourage to stay alert, be proactive, and make use of available legal and institutional support whenever required.

Moreover, Police organised Plantation Drives under ‘SAWA PARV’ at Police Station Handwara and Government Higher Secondary School, MH Pora, in close coordination with the Forest Department. During these drives, a large number of saplings of different varieties were planted within the premises of the police station and the school. Police officers/officials, officials from Forest Department, students, and staff members actively participated in these programmes.

Police reiterated its commitment to continue organising such drives under its ongoing community outreach, awareness and public welfare measures, thereby strengthening the bond between police and the people while safeguarding the environment.(JKNS)
