Shopian: A lawyer was seriously injured after he was assaulted by his colleague in court premises in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday.

Police sources told CNS that over a case related to the issuance of a license, two lawyers entered into a heated argument in the premises of Session Court Shopian. “Advocate Mudasir Dar, a resident of Batapora Shopian lost cool and assaulted his colleague Jahangir Ahmed Khan of Pinjora Shopian wounding him seriously. Khan was immediately shifted to hospital.”

A section of lawyers demanded that a formal case should be registered against the assailant. “We have detained the accused lawyers and a case will be registered against him,” said a police official.

Meanwhile, the incident sparked a spontaneous suspension of court work while people who had arrived in the court in connection with different cases returned back with grim faces. (CNS)
