Rahul Gandhi attacks Kerala CM Vijayan

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday wondered why the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has not grilled Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan so far whereas central agencies have been after all leaders who attack the BJP.

“Anyone who attacks the BJP, BJP will be after them by sending central investigation agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) within 24 hours. However, this has not been the case with the Kerala Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan,” Gandhi said, wondering “Why nothing happened to Pinarayi Vijayan and why the ED has not questioned him so far.”

Addressing a public meeting organised here by Congress-led UDF in support of its candidates K Sudhakaran and Raj Mohan Unnithan of Kannur and Kasaragod, parliamentary constituencies respectively, Gandhi launched a stringent attack on Vijayan and asked, “Why did not the Kerala Chief Minister go to jail?” In this regard, he cited the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his former Jharkhand counterpart Hemant Soren who have been taken into custody “for raising questions against the BJP”.

It may be mentioned that rhough Congress and the CPI (M) are allies in the INDI bloc, they are fighting each other in Kerala.

Gandhi said, “The Kerala Chief Minister is attacking me all day, and this stance was surprising.”.

“Pinarayi Vijayan says that he is waging an ideological battle against the BJP. But BJP is not doing anything against him, unlike the way it is taking revenge to other politicians,” Gandhi added.

Gandhi criticised the BJP for misusing the media to hunt him down as part of its aim to cancel his Lok Sabha membership. Once ED questioned him for verbal attacks against the BJP, and the targeted attacks ended up with his expulstion from his official residence in New Delhi.

“Now I am happy not to have the MP’s house in New Delhi,” he said, adding now he has lakhs of houses in the country, for the political work he has done to protect the interest of the common people across India.

Gandhi claimed this Lok Sabha election is the first poll in the country where the Constitution will have to be discussed.
