AICC leader and Wayanad MP, Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priayanka Gandhi on Tuesday visited his own Lok Sabha constituency to interact with the people of Kerala, especially the own voters of Wayanad constituency, as a first visit after his disqualification as an MP following the criminal defamation case over his Modi Surname remarks in 2019 in Karnataka.
Both reached in a helicopter at SKMJ ground at Kalpetta in Wayanad around 1600 hrs and attended a road show called “Sathyameva Jayathe” in an open vehicle from SKJM ground to his MP office at Kalpetta town, around 500 metres . Thousands of people from all walks of life thronged on the two sides of the road.
Thousands of Congress led United Democratic Front (UDF) workers including seva dal volunteers, women were carrying the national flag, (not the Congress party flag) and placards of Rahu Gandhi also seen with shouted slogans to show their full support to Rahul Gandhi in the road show., which concluded around 1630 hrs.
AICC General secretary K C Venugopal, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president K Sudhakaran, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML ) State president Panakkad Syed Sadik Ali Shihab Thangal, P K Kunhalikutty also accompanied Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi in the road show.
A public meeting called “Public Democratic Defense” organized by UDF at Kainatty , was also arranged in the evening. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka will address the function in the evening. AICC General secretary Tarik Anwar, K C Venugopal, Opposition leader V D Satheeshan will also address the public function.
