Delhiites on Saturday woke up to a pleasant morning after the several parts of the city received rainfall, which brought great relief from the scorching heat.
As per India Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature plunged to 24.4 degrees, three notches below normal in the morning.
In its forecast, the weather agency predicted a generally cloudy sky with moderate rain in Delhi-NCR with the maximum temperature of around 35 degrees on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the maximum temperature is likely to remain below 40 degrees over the next six days, the minimum temperature is likely to be around 22 or 23 degrees Celsius till June 21.
“The weather pattern is likely to remain the same for the next two to three days. The weather is expected to clear from June 22” Safdarjung regional monitoring center forecast indicates.
IMD earlier predicted light to moderate rainfall in Delhi and its adjoining areas.
“Thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain and gusty winds with speed of 30-40 Km/h would occur over and adjoining areas of entire Delhi and NCR (Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula, Noida, Dadri, Greater Noida,” IMD said in a tweet.
According to IMD the overall rainfall in Delhi was recorded 011.9 mm during the past 09 Hrs ending at 1730 Hrs on June 17.
The weather station at Lodhi Road recorded 012.8 mm, while the Ridge in North Delhi recorded 002.6 mm.
IMD also predicted heavy rain and thunderstorm accompanied by gusty winds of speed (30 to 40 Kmph )at isolated places over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab Haryana.
“Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan will also witness Thunderstorm /Lightning at the isolated place with gusty winds” as per IMD.
On Friday IMD in its weather bulletin said Western disturbances and southwesterly winds carrying moisture from the Arabian Sea to Northwest India are likely to bring scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over Delhi, Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh over the next five days.
