Rainfall expected over North India for next two days: IMD

 India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday predicted light to moderate rainfall and snowfall over parts of North India till March 7.

Dry weather is expected over parts of the country during the next 5 days, except for isolated to scattered light rainfall and snowfall likely over the Western Himalayan region during the night of March 5-7, the IMD said.


Under the influence of fresh western disturbances, isolated to scattered moderate rainfall and snowfall are likely over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and Himachal Pradesh, and isolated rainfall and snowfall are likely over Uttarakhand during March 5-7, the IMD said.


According to IMD, a cyclonic circulation lies over interior Odisha and the neighbourhood at lower tropospheric levels.


Under its influence, isolated rainfall is likely over Odisha during March 5-8; and over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during March 7-9, the IMD said.


The IMD further predicted isolated to scattered moderate rainfall and snowfall, very likely over Arunachal Pradesh during the next 7 days.


Isolated rainfall is likely over Assam and Meghalaya on March 5, the IMD said.
The Met department further said hot and humid weather will prevail over Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala during the next 2 days.
