'JK's division main game of Sangh'

Srinagar: CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami appealed people of the state to foil the bigger game of Sangh parivaar of trifurcation of Jammu and Kashmitarigamir.
“Trifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir, which is the main game plan of the Sangh Parivaar – BJP, RSS and its other outfits – are more serious issues than cow slaughter and beef ban. I appeal people to stand up and foil the bigger game of Sangh parivaar and which is dividing the state into Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions,” Tarigami said in a press conference here today.
He said the division of state will damage the age-old ethos of unity and brotherhood and will be fraught with dangerous consequences for people in all three regions of the state.
“All shades of public opinion need to rise above sectarian considerations and communal polarization in order to safeguard the unity of the State and unitedly raise their voice against forces hell bent on to trifurcate the state,” he insisted.
Tarigami said that issues like cow slaughter were not stoked for the “love” of cow, but for polarization and division of people on religious lines.
“Cow slaughter issues are raised for political purposes to polarize and divide people,” he said.
Slamming PDP patron and Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who had called his alliance with right-wing BJP as historic, the CPI (M) leader said that the record of the 7-month old coalition is “quite opposite”.
“Despite Mufti Sahab calling the alliance with BJP historic opportunity for reconciliation of the three regions of the state, the record is quite opposite and the gap between Kashmir and Jammu provinces is widening more and more. Earlier, it was only divide between political ideologies, now individual Hindus and Muslims feel divided. It is because of the present dispensation which is directly governed by RSS,” he said.
He said that be it an issue of beef ban, attack on Kashmiri truckers, seeking vote on UT status in Ladakh or RSS armed parade in Jammu, the situation is being polarized for the partisan political interests by the forces who are hell-bent to disintegrate Jammu and Kashmir on the basis of region, religion and language.
“It remains a fact that regional division of J&K has for long remained one of the cherished goals of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS), the ideological arm of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).”
“The present coalition Government was expected to be seen as delivering but so far has been unfortunately encouraging the atmosphere of drift and intolerance in the State. Efforts are being made to bring different communities at loggerheads with each other and to face a situation of confrontation,” Tarigami said.
He said that there have been renewed efforts from BJP that promised UT status for Ladakh in its manifesto in recently held elections. This promise also reflects the nefarious designs of this party for regional divide in this state.
On Assembly Speaker Kavindra Gupta’s participation in RSS’ ‘shashtra puja (worship of arms)’ in Jammu, Tarigami said Speaker's chair commands a great respect.
“He should have kept a distance from attending such an event. It was not expected from the Hon’ble Speaker to disrespect his constitutional mandate of neutrality,” he said.
He said that in its All India Executive Committee meeting held at Kurkshetra, RSS had on 30th June, 2002 passed a resolution recommending separate State for Jammu region and Centrally Administered Region status to Ladakh.
“The aggressive RSS activities in the state have potential to destroy the traditional amity and harmony among people of the state. RSS march in Jammu streets, which was an aggressive and arrogant display of power unfolds nefarious RSS designs which BJP cannot justify and brush aside as a routine annual Dussehra activity. This is indeed a calculated move to create communal polarization in the region,” he said.
He lauded the patience and resilience of the people of this state despite provocations bu BJP and RSS.
“Forces who want to divide this state on communal lines must draw lessons from this situation and refrain from creating wedge between the communities for their political interests,” he said. (KNS)
