The Rupee on Wednesday tumbled down 31 paise to close negative at 78.38 against the USD on rising demand for US Dollar by bankers and importers, dealers at the Foreign Exchange said.
The local unit that fell 9 paise at 78.16 in opening trade, finished at 78.38, dropped 31 paise as compared to its previous close.
The Rupee fell due to strong dollar against other world currencies amid negative equity market.
The Rupee unit registered days high and low at 78.12 and 77.44 respectively against the US Dollar, dealer
added.
