Congress leader Salman Nizami has welcomed the Union cabinet’s & Jammu and Kashmir cabinet decision to award death sentence to rapists of girls aged less than 12. Nizami wrote on Twitter, this is a welcome step by state govt in J&K & Central government in Delhi.

However the need is to bring in stronger laws that protect both minors and those above 12 years. Let rapists and perverts have no place in our society & communities.

Nizami also visited Delhi Commission for Women’s chief Swati Maliwal’s who was on hunger strike for the same demand. Nizami wrote on Twitter “Visited the DCW Chief who is on an indefinite hunger strike at the Rajghat to protest against the inhuman Kathua rape. The increasing number of inhumane cases against minors is a matter of shame.

I stand in solidarity with Swati Ji”. He said that the crime of brutal rapes of minors had shaken the nation to the core in recent months. Such criminals are a blot on the face of humanity and deserve no mercy.  He said that no sane society could tolerate such a situation, where rape of minors, including babies less than a year old, was being reported every other day.

He added that minors did not even understand the brutality that they were being subjected to. Nizami was the first to demand death penalty for rapists soon after Kathua rape & murder incident.
