Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notice to Centre, Bihar and Tamil Nadu Government on hearing YouTuber Manish Kashyap’s plea seeking clubbing of FIRs registered against him.

A two-judge bench of the Apex Court, headed by Justice Krishna Murari and also comprising Justice Sanjay Karol, issued notices to Union of India (UOI), Bihar and TN government and fixed the matter for further hearing to April 21.

The accused, Kashyap was arrested by Bihar Police’s economic offences unit (EOU) after he surrendered on March 18 in relation to the case. He had allegedly shared videos of migrant workers allegedly being attacked in Tamil Nadu on social media.

The videos were debunked as fake by fact checkers and the police department.

He had moved the Supreme Court seeking a direction to club all the FIRs lodged against him.

The Top Court asked Kashyap to wait for a week for any protection from coercive action order to be passed.

The petitioner’s (Kashyap’s) counsel also informed the bench that another bench of the Court granted relief to another accused in an FIR over the same issue. He was referring to petition filed by Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Prashant Umrao.
