Srinagar: Expressing strong resentment against the blasphemous remarks made by Hindu Mahasabha leader Kamlesh Tiwari, the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah on Sunday demanded capital punishment to him.

In a statement to KNS, Shah while reacting strongly to blasphemous remarks made by Tiwari against the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), Ummul Mumineen Hazrat Aisha Sidiq (RA) and Hazrat Abu Bakr Sidiq (RA), said any disrespect to these revered figures of Islam is intolerable for Muslims.

Demanding capital punishment to accused, Shah said Muslims value Islam and its figures more than their lives and termed the Kamlesh Tiwari as "mentally disturbed" person."If such communal persons are not reined, it will yield serious repercussions," he said. Shah said Prophet Muhammad (SAW) has come as a mercy for the whole humanity and His teachings are the solution to the chaos and confusion prevailing in the world.

Shabir Ahmad Shah also condemned the desecration of Jamia Masjid, Srinagar by forces who fired teargas shells into the mosque. He said the state administration deliberately provokes the youths and devotees by deploying large number of forces in the area, thereby creating hurdles in prayers. He warned government of serious consequences if it doesn't mend its anti-religious approach.

Meanwhile, the DFP spokesperson supported the protest call by Suwat ul Awliya against the blasphemous remarks by Hindu Mahasabha leader. (KNS)
