The union Home Minister Amit Shah Friday chaired a security review meeting with the top brass of intelligence agencies and security forces here at the Lok Bhawan.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha was also present at the meeting.

Earlier, Shah visited the Gurnam and Bobiya Border Outposts (BOPs) in the Hiranagar sector of Kathua district and also addressed BSF personnel.

Shah is on a two-day visit to the union Territory. He arrived here late on Thursday evening.

Official sources said that the Home Minister reviewed the overall security scenario and ongoing counter-terrorism measures being undertaken in the Jammu region.

Meanwhile at the BOPs, Shah paid homage at the ‘Ajay Prahari’ memorial and interacted with personnel deployed along the International Border.

Lauding the BSF for its valour, Shah said that the force has consistently upheld the highest standards of duty across the country, including in Manipur, the North-Eastern states, and Maoist-affected regions of Odisha and Chhattisgarh.

Shah will also hold a meeting on development of Jammu and Kashmir here at Lok Bhavan on Saturday.

This will be Shah’s second high-level review of the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir in less than a month.

Earlier, he chaired a high-level security review meeting in New Delhi on January 8.
