Srinagar: The incarcerated Democratic Freedom Party chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah has appealed to Kashmiris residing in United Kingdom to register strong protests against the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the country.In a statement issued to press on Sunday, Shabir Ahmad Shah, who is still under police detention, while appealing the Kashmiris living in UK to protest against the proposed visit of Narendra Modi to the country said they should raise their genuine voices in favor of oppressed Kashmiris and make it reach to the global forums.

"The main motive of the protests would be to make international community aware of how India suppresses Kashmiris with its military might," Shah said in a statement to KNS.

Expressing gratitude to Kashmiris living in foreign countries, Shah said they always supported the cause in every situation by raising their voices against the Indian tyranny. "I hope they will continue such support and strongly protest against Modi's visit there."Giving reference to history, Shah said soon after the partition of subcontinent in 1947, the British left the Kashmir issue which couldn't find any solution since last 69 years. He said it was in the same year that India annexed the territory of Jammu Kashmir by landing its troops here.

"Since then, Kashmir issue is continuously posing threat to the peace and stability to the entire South West Asia," he said.

Urging UK and other world nations to seriously take notice of Indian barbarism and its committing of grave human rights violations in Jammu Kashmir, Shah said any delay in this regard will pose serious threat to population as Indian massacres in the region continue unabated.

Reiterating his appeal on Narendra Modi's visit, Shah urged Kashmiris to rise above party barriers and pitch for resolution of a human issue as Kashmir."We are facing a very challenging situation as human rights graph is also deteriorating with each passing day. Use of non lethal weapons against innocent people has become a routine here," he said. Shah also condemned the foiling of 'Million March' program by adminstration.

Meanwhile, Shabir Ahmad Shah expressed deep grief and sorrow over the killing of a youth Gowhar Ahmad of Mustafabad, Zainakote, HMT by forces on Saturday.

Expressing condolence and solidarity with the bereaved family, Shah said we are extremely grieved over the loss of this young boy.

Rejecting the ordering of enquiry into the killing, Shah said these probes are nothing but eyewash and a trick to mislead people."Till date, not a single culprit of such killings has been brought to book as there is AFSPA ," he said.

On the directions of Shabir Ahmad Shah, a delegation visited residence of Shaheed Gowhar and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for his heavenly abode. (KNS)
