Security forces wade into protesters

Srinagar: Security forces fired teargas shells to disperse protesting students of SSM Engineering College in Parihaspora who were agitating against killing of their colleague Gowhar Ahmad Dar.

Dar, an engineering student of SSM, was killed by security forces’ in Zainakoot in Srinagar outskirts on Saturday barely few hours after Prime Minister left Srinagar after his much-hyped rally here.

According to KNS correspondent, dozens of students received minor injuries during the protests.

Students in dozens of vehicles were travelling toward Dar’s home in Zainkoot for prayers and to pay condolence to his family.

But, security forces stopped the vehicles to move ahead, which infuriated the students and they came down to protests against the police.

The situation turned tense and students started protesting against the security forces, and clashes ensued.

Security forces fired teargas shells to disperse the agitating students.

KNS correspondant said that dozens of students suffered minor injuries in the clashes. (KNS)
