Teenage Girl Among Two Killed In Separate Incidents Of Lightning In Kashmir

Srinagar: Two persons including a teenage girl died due to lightning in separate incidents of Ganderbal and Bandipora district of Kashmir region on Monday late afternoon.

Reports reaching GNS said that the man Mohammed Yousuf Mir son of Aziz Mir of Bakura, Ganderbal in central Kashmir was injured after the lightning struck in the area when he was working in his field.

Mir was immediately taken to nearby hospital in an unconscious state where doctors declared him brought dead, they said.

In another incident, the teenage girl Fatima Bano (18) daughter of Muhammad Sikander Malla of Najan village of Sumbal, in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district  was injured seriously when she was struck by lightning, outside her house, they said.

Fatima was immediately taken to nearby hospital, however, doctors declared her brought dead on arrival, they said.

An official while confirming both the incidents and said that the Deputy Commissioners of the respective districts have deputed revenue and Police authorities to the areas for further necessary action. (GNS)
