UAE denies reports of transfer of USD 3 billion in Iranian assets

The United Arab Emirates has rejected media reports claiming that it transferred part of Iran’s unfrozen assets worth $3 billion, according to a statement from the UAE Foreign Ministry on Saturday.

“The United Arab Emirates has categorically denied reports published by certain international media outlets alleging the transfer of funds from the UAE to the Islamic Republic of Iran, including allegations concerning USD 3 billion,” the ministry said.

The ministry described the claims as “completely false and baseless,” adding that no frozen Iranian funds have been unlocked, transferred, or facilitated through the UAE.

It also urged media outlets to rely on official sources and avoid publishing or circulating unverified information or unfounded allegations.

This clarification came after media reports suggested that the United Arab Emirates had agreed to release billions of dollars in funding to Iran.

Actually the case emerged as the UAE, previously among Iran’s primary regional targets at the height of the conflict, was not targeted by Iranian forces. Meanwhile, Iran recently launchd missile and drone attacks toward Kuwait and Bahrain.
