Against the backdrop of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s two-day visit to the district from Sunday night, the district unit of Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena is likely to suffer a major jolt when many Shiv Sainiks along with former Nanded Rural district chief Umesh Munde, Nanded North taluka chief Jaywant Kadam may join the rebel camp tonight in the presence of Shinde.
Incidentally, Thackeray has already sacked Munde from the post.
Kadam has decided to join the Shinde group.
Both were present at the residence of Shiv Sena MP from Hingoli, Hemant Patil, who is known to be a close associate of Shinde. They will officially join the Shinde group tonight. Shinde is coming directly to Nanded from New Delhi tonight.
Also, former vice-president of Zilla Parishad Padma Reddy-Satpalwar, Prahlad Ingole of Shiv Sena farmers’ wing have joined the Shinde group. It is expected that some more office-bearers of the Sena’s district unit will join the rebel camp.
Furthermore, there is a sense of displeasure in the Yuva Sena, led by Aaditya Thackeray, due to abandonment of the loyalists.
Around 30 to 35 office-bearers and activists have publicly expressed their displeasure and left the youth wing of Sena.
On Saturday, the new executive committee of the Yuva Sena was announced, wherein the local office-bearers have sidelined the loyalists and instead given opportunities to the new faces who have not worked in the party.
