Jammu: The state government on Sunday said that it has booked five persons out of eight under Public Safety Act involved in an attack on Kashmiri truckers. Out of three victims who were set on fire by the right wing Bajrang Dal activists, 24 year old Zahid today succumbed to his burn injuries in Safder gunj hospital, Delhi.
Seven persons were arrested for criminal assault on the truck and searches are on for one absconding, a government handout said today.
“District Police submitted a dossier of five persons involved in the attack having a criminal history and several FIRs already lodged against them. These persons have been booked for planning and executing a criminal conspiracy aiming at disturbing peace and public order in the state under a pre-designed and motivated plan,” the statement said.
“The District Magistrate, after examining the dossiers and involvement of accused in a series of criminal acts including the deadly attack with combustible material on a Kashmir bound truck, issued warrants for detention of the accused under the stringent Public Safety Act and lodging them in Central Jail.
“The criminals booked under Public Safety Act include Sandoor Singh S/O Thakur Singh R/O Dheda, Tehsil Gool, Danish @Pamma S/O Khushia R/O W No 12, Dewak, Udhampur, Harish Singh Katoch S/O Chuni Lal Katoch R/O Village Bhimdassa, Tehsil Gool, District Ramban, Balbahadur Singh @ Abbu S/O Girdhari Lal R/O Moungri, Tehsil Moungri and Varinder Singh @ Kaka R/O Nepal A/P Sambal A/P Shiv Nagar, District Udhampur.”
The accused were booked vide FIR No 368/2015 lodged u/s 307/336/436/147/148/120-B/427 RPC and 3/5 of Explosives Substances Act.
Further investigation in the matter was conducted which also revealed that apart from the instant criminal conspiracy aimed at disturbing peace and order in state they were involved in a series of criminal assaults and acts and a number of FIR lodged while many cases have been challaned, the handout added.
A number of FIRs already stand lodged against them in different criminal acts. Case FIR No. 267/13 U/S 342/323/147/RPC of PS Udhampur, Case FIR No 367/15 u/s 337, 336147 RPC, Case FIR No 55/2012 u/s 4/5 Arms Act of PS Udhampur, Case FIR 267/13 u/s 342/323/147 RPC of PS Udhampur, Case FIR No 05/2015 u/s 341/323/34 RPC of PS Udhampur, Case FIR No 216/15 u/s 341/323/34 RPC of PS Udhampur are among few cases under which the accused have already been booked.
