Srinagar: The University of Kashmir employees Wednesday alleged that the Vice Chancellor, Khursheed Iqbal Andrabi, has “messed up” the functioning of the apex academic institute in the Valley by “promoting” favouritism in the appointment of top officers.
“The VC has promoted his close friends to the top posts, including Registrar and others. Nothing has changed for good in the university after he took over,” a KU employee said, but he requested not to be named.
Andrabi has appointed former Dean of Commerce Department, Musadiq Amin Suhaaf, as the Registrar after removing Zaffar Reshi from the post, the employee said.
Contrary to the Varsity rules, the posts of Registrar and similar top posts were not advertised to facilitate appointment of “close friends” at these posts.
A source in the university said that not only appointments, the contracts are also awarded to persons who are “close” to VC without floating tenders.
The source said that recently Director Physical Education Bashir Ahmad khan was ‘removed’ from his post to place an incharge officer in his seat.
“The maladministration is at such a level that even the transfer orders of the employees within the varsity are not being obeyed by the department heads,” said another employee.
The employees have sought the intervention of University Chancellor. (KNS)
