ight arrangements have been made for peaceful conduct of Friday ‘Namaz’ in the district as volunteers have been appointed in the Mosques by the religious leaders to ensure that anti-social elements do not enter in the guise of ‘Namazis’.
The decision was taken during a meeting held by District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar Khatri with the religious leaders. It was decided that the list of volunteers will be provided to the City Magistrate.
The DM appealed to maintain harmony in the meeting, but said that strict action will be taken against those who will try to vitiate the atmosphere. He also advised people to stay away from rumours. He invited suggestions from the religious leaders.
Manager of the Kareli mosque Pakhrul Hasan Kashmi said that they have already deployed volunteers in the mosques and all of them are working diligently. Khatri said that the list of the volunteers should be provided to the City Magistrate.
He said that from the security point of view heavy police and central forces have been deployed. In addition to this he said that the officers have been directed to maintain a vigil on social media and foot patrolling was being done.
Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar said that the religious leaders were appealed to help in maintaining peace.
