After a defeat and a draw, Young Indian Challenger D.Gukesh
came back with a stupendous show by winning his third round game against reigning
champion Ding Liren of China in the FIDE World Chess Championship 2024 in Singapore
on Wednesday evening.
After losing the opening game o Monday, 18-year-old Gukesh, playing with black pieces,
played a solid game and drew his second game in 23 moves yesterday.
Both the Indian and the experienced Chinese, who is keen to retain the title, are tied
with 1.5-1.5 pts each after three rounds in 14-round classical chess.
After a solid draw yesterday, Gukesh, who is the world’s youngest World Championship
challenger, playing with White pieces, played aggressively and bounced back strongly
handing Ding Liren his first defeat in 37 moves.
