‘one person booked under PSA in Home Shali Bugh Constituency’

Srinagar:  The Government Wednesday said that no young boy has been unnecessarily harassed or arrested by Police of SOG. This was claimed by Minister for Home in response to question raised by National Conference legislator Abdul Majeed Bhat who had asked the government whether it is a fact that young boys are unnecessarily being harassed or arrested by Police of SOG and Army and many of them are booked under Public Safety Act after conducting severe interrogation in Home Shali Bugh constituency of South Kashmir.

     The Minister for Home according to CNS no complaint has been received by the police regarding the arrest or harassment of young boys by the Army in South Kashmir.  “In the event of a reasonable apprehension, supported by adequeate evidence about involvement of any person in activities prejudicial to the Security of the State or the maintenance of the Public Order as the may be, the detaining authority is required to order the detention of a person, strictly in accordance with the provisions of J&K Public Safety Act, 1978,” he said.

     He informed the House that only one person from Home Shali Bugh constituency namely Majeed Maqbool Bhat, a resident of Redwani Kulgam has been detained under PSA and presently lodged in District Jail, Kathua. (CNS)
