Zahid’s Killing: CM’s Home Town Under Seige on 4th Day

Islamabad: Authorities have clamped undeclared curfew in Anantnag and Bijbehara townships to scuttle any protests over tbe murder of a driver Zahid Rasool by Hindu fanatics on October 9 while as a complete shutdown is being observed in other parts of the district for the fourth running day today. The twin township is on boil since last four days as the anger over the murder of Zahid refuses to die down. The clashes between the angry youth and forces have left over a dozen people injured in Chief Minister's hometown. One of the youth who was hit by a tear smoke canister fired by CRPF men yesterday is fighting for life at SKIMS. Fearing more violence authorities today imposed harsh restrictions on the movement of people. Police and Para military forces equipped with riot gear have been deployed in strength in the streets of the two town to prevent the people from venturing out of their houses. Police have also blocked all the entry and exit points leading to the native place of Zahid. Hurriyat G chairman had called for Betengoo chaloo today while as Mirwaiz south Qazi Yasir had called for shutdown in the district.
