Srinagar: Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali, Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution Department & Tribal Affairs has been conferred Best Legislature Award 2012 for his outstanding performance in the Assembly during the year. The Award will be received by the Minister in a function soon.
The Awards have been announced today during Autumn Session of State Legislative Assembly in which Speaker of J&K Assembly Kavinder Gupta has declared Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali as Best Legislature for 2012. The award was conferred upon the Minister for his outstanding performance and discipline shown in the Assembly during 2012.
Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali was born on January 1, 1970 in village Tralla of tehsil Budhal and District Rajouri. He has qualified degrees of LLM and MBA besides PG Diploma in Rural Development, Journalism & Mass Communication, Industrial Relations and Personal Management, Business Management and HRD.
From the student time, he was associated with Student Unions and remained Presidents of these Institutions for many years. After studies, joined Youth National Conference and remained its Zonal President till August 2002 when he resigned and contested Election from Darhal Assembly Constituency as Independent Candidate and lost with a narrow margin. In January 2003 joined PDP and become its District President and also remained Member Gujjar & Bakerwal Advisory Board for various years.
In 2008, contested election from PDP ticket and won. Again contested from the same Darhal Constituency in 2014 and again won and also inducted as Cabinet Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution Department and Tribal Affairs.
He has worked with various NGOs and highlighted the plight of women and children and under privileged sections. He is also President of CMH Educational Society, Secular Educational Trust and also Chairman of CMH Group of Colleges.
Mr. Zulfkar has received various prestigious awards in past viz, Indira Gandhi Sadbhavana Award, Rashtriya Gourav Award, International Millennium Gold Star Award and Shaan-i-Urdu Award.
He has visited in various countries representing India and J&K viz UAE, Saudi Arbia, Tashkant & Nepal besides he has done tremendous work in research by publishing work on Centre State Relations with special reference to Art 270, Working of Panchayat Raj Institution and Consition of Child Labour.(CNS)
