2 militants killed in Anantnag gunfight

Srinagar, May 10 (UNI) Security forces shot dead two unidentified militants in an ongoing gun battle in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district, police said here on Tuesday.

They said the gunfight erupted at Kreeri, Dooru area of Anantnag, when joint teams of forces launched a cordon and search operation, following an input about the presence of militants in the area.

“#AnantnagEncounterUpdate: 01 more #terrorist killed (Total 02). #Operation in progress. Further details shall follow,” a police tweet said.
The identity and group affiliation of the slain person could not be established immediately.

This is the fourth gunfight in Kashmir this month. In previous gunfights, five militants, including two top commanders of Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Toiba, were killed.
