Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday claimed to have booked two notorious drug peddlers under PIT-NDPS Act in Pulwama.

The two notorious drug peddlers identified as Mukhtar Ahmad Wani, son of Gh Mohammad Wani, Javaid Ahmad Sofi, son of Abdul Rehman Sofi—both residents of Gusoo Pulwama have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said.

Pertinently, the duo was involved in promoting drug trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Pulwama and other areas of the district.

Despite their involvement in several FIRs, they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth, police said.

“Consistent actions of Police against the criminals should reassure the community members that police is making all efforts to eradicate social evils and making all efforts to keep our society free from drug abuse,” police said
