The Legitimate Dewatered
Srinagar: As the Valley received heavy rainfall since the wee hours of this morning, the divisional administration Kashmir has pressed men and machinery to ensure the people don’t suffer.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan while talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that almost 52 locations in Srinagar have been dewatered from today morning.
“The Meteorological department had already predicted rainfall. After the rainfall caused inundation, the concerned departments and officials were pressed into the services who have made the dewatering stations functional to ensure the people don’t suffer,” he added.
“We have directed Deputy Commissioners (DC) of respective districts to ensure people don’t suffer. They have also pressed men and machinery in their respective districts. The work is going on and I am personally monitoring the situation besides DCs in their respective districts. All the steps for the people will be taken accordingly,” he said.
He said according to the figures available, 52 locations in Srinagar were dewatered since this morning. “The men and machinery has also been deployed in other districts,” he added.
About Amarnath Yatra, Khan said it is being monitored by the all the higher ups including Advisor to the Governor, as well as the Chief Secretary. “Not only Amarnath Yatra but the Haj operation is also being monitored by the top officials,” he said.
Meanwhile, Director MeT Sonum Lotus told Kashmir News Service (KNS), said that the intermittent rains would continue to lash Valley for the next three days.
He added that there is possibility of light to moderate rainfall till July 27. He said that the heavy rainfall is the outcome of arrival of Monsoon season.
Lotus further added there is no prediction of heavy downpour tha can led to any untoward situation.
Pertinently, the rainfall has put an end to the hot weather conditions that continued for over weeks in the Valley. (KNS)
