Police books notorious drug peddler under PIT NDPS Act in Kupwara

Continuing its efforts to curb the menace of drug trafficking, police in Kupwara booked a notorious drug peddler under Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT NDPS).

The notorious drug peddler namely Shahbaz Ahmad Khan son of Abdul Majeed Khan resident of Kupwara has been booked under the PIT NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority, subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.

Its pertinent to mention here that accused was actively involved in drug peddling, primarily targeting the youth and contributing to the spread of the drug menace in the region. Given his continued involvement in narcotics-related activities, despite repeated warnings and legal actions, stringent measures were taken to curb his illicit trade.

J&K Police remains committed to eradicating the drug menace and ensuring a safe and drug-free society. Public cooperation is essential in this fight, and we urge citizens to report any suspicious activities related to narcotics to the nearest police station.(JKNS)
