Srinagar: Two militants were killed in an overnight gunfight at Kralgund area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. A senior army officer told GNS that the militants opened fire upon patrolling party of army’s 32 RR late last night in forest area of Qaziabad in Kralgund.
The fire was retaliated which resulted into an encounter, he said. The exchange of gunfire continued for some time and the operation was later suspended due to darkness, the officer said.
He said that today morning bodies of two unidentified militants were recovered along with as many AK 47 rifles and other war like stores during the search operation in the area. The identities and the group affiliation of the slain is being ascertained, the officer said, adding it seems that the duo killed in the operation are foreigners. (GNS)
