Kandi: Slain Unidentified Militant Buried In Chowkibal Amid Ongoing Search Operation

Srinagar, July 13: (GNS) An unidentified Militant believed to be from Pakistan who was killed on Thursday in an encounter at Kandi forests, was buried during midnight at Chowkibal in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Reports reaching GNS said that the slain militant whose identity could not be ascertained was handed over to members of luocals of Marsari, Chowkibal late Thursday night after completing all medico-legal formalities.

The slain was later buried during the midnight, they said.

A police officer also confirmed that the slain was buried in the area.

The gunfight broke out at Sadu Ganga forests of Kandi on Tuesday evening after militants and the army’s 47 RR had a standoff.

Later, additional reinforcement of 3 PARA commandos also reached the site and joined the operation.

Next day, an army commando was killed and several others suffered injuries.

When reports last came in, the search operation was ongoing in the area. (GNS)
