Poonch: The thirteen families who lost their kin to an accident in Poonch district of Jammu on Friday said the Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia relief each granted to them by the governor Satya Pal Malik was not being immediately released in their favour rather they have been asked to wait for one year.

“When we go to the bank with the cheques, we are told that the money will be released after one year,” they said. “We need money now and waiting for one year is of no use,” they said.

When contacted Deputy Commissioner Poonch Rahul Yadav told GNS that the Rs 5 lakh cheque granted to the affected families is in the form of fixed deposit and if anyone has any exigency, he can approach the office of the deputy commissioner for the same. Thirteen persons were killed in a road accident at Plera area in the district recently.  (GNS)
