Over 30 Houses Damaged In Avalanche In Gurez

Srinagar: Thirty four residential houses were damaged after a snow avalanche struck Khandyal area of Gurez in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district late Thursday evening, police said on Friday.
A heavy snow avalanche hit Khandiyal – a small hamlet in Gurez yesterday late evening, a police officer told GNS.
He said that in the incident, 18 houses got damaged completely while as 16 others suffered partial damage.
There was no loss of life reported as the inmates of the hamlet were already evacuated to safety given the apprehensions of the avalanche, the officer added. (GNS)
