An unidentified militant was killed in an ongoing operation in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday, officials said.
An encounter began on Thursday evening at Chewa Ular Tral during a cordon and a search operation which was launched jointly by the police, Army and CRPF, following information about the presence of militants.
“There was a brief exchange of fire between the militants and forces last evening. The forces maintained a tight cordon the whole night and body of a militant was recovered today,” a security official said.
A police officer said the operation is still underway in the area.
The gunfight at Chew Ular had erupted hours after two militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba were killed in a gunfight in north Kashmir. (TNS)
