Home Minister Amit Shah is arriving in Srinagar for two days from Thursday, officials and BJP sources said.

The visit comes days ahead of the voting for the Baramulla and Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha constituencies in Kashmir, that are scheduled for May 20 and May 25, respectively. The polls in Srinagar Lok Sabha seat were held on Monday.

Sources said Shah would arrive in Srinagar tomorrow evening and would hold a series of meetings with several delegations in Srinagar.

While the BJP is not contesting any of the three seats in Kashmir, it is believed that Shah, during his interactions with delegations, would appeal to the party workers and Paharis to vote against the National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party candidates. It will be interesting if Shah announces support for any candidate in the Baramulla and Anantnag Lok Sabha seats.

The BJP leaders said the Home Minister’s visit to Kashmir during his busy election schedule in Srinagar will be hugely significant.
