Jammu Crime Branch lodges FIR in impersonation, forgery case

The Special Crime Branch Wing Jammu has lodged an FIR in an alleged case of impersonation, fraud and forgery of a state subject document by a man to get a government job in the Jammu and Kashmir Education Department.


According to FIR No. 13, registered at Crime Branch Jammu on May 2, 2026, a complainant, Kamal Bhugol of Barnai Road, Gurah Keran, Tehsil Jammu North, in a written complaint alleged that Krishan Chand, a resident of Village Patoli Brahmana, Tehsil Jammu North, District Jammu, misrepresented facts and fraudulently got his name recorded as the son of Nand Lal in various official records. He is also accused of using a forged State Subject certificate (File No. 1862) dating back to 1976.


The complainant further alleged that on the basis of the forged state subject certificate, he also obtained a job in the Education Department of the State of Jammu and Kashmir and acquired immoveable property being a non state subject and not anyway related with Nand Lal but he is son of one Raju, who was a resident of Shalayapur Chapryal, Sialkot Pakistan, who was killed during the 1947 disturbances.


Krishan Chand migrated to India alongwith his mother namely Dhani Devi and uncle, who settled in Amritsar whereas Dhani Devi shifted to Jammu after some time and started living in an evacuee house.


Dhani Devi and Krishan Chand were no way related with Nand Lal, who performed two marriages, the complainant further alleged.


Thereafter Krishan Chand claimed to be son of Nand Lal on the basis of record i.e. birth certificate/record of Police Station Gummat, Jammu, voter list, date of birth certificate issued by the J&K Board of Secondary Education, ration card and state subject certificate.


Out of these documents neither state subject certificate nor ration card was issued by the Government authorities and these two certificates were forged documents whereas the birth record of police station Gummat also pertained to some other person, he stated.


“On receipt of the complaint, a preliminary enquiry was conducted, during which it has been found that the omission and commission on part of the Krishan Chand by way of forgery and using the forged record pertaining to parentage and birth record, prima fade constituted the offences Under Sections 465, 466, 468, 471, 120-B/RPC,” read an FIR.


Accordingly, a formal case is registered at Police Station Special Crime Wing, Crime Branch Jammu and investigation entrusted to Deputy Superintendent of Police, Deepak Jasrotia (Investigating Officer), Special Crime Wing, Crime Branch Jammu.
