Security has been strengthened along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Qazigund as preparations are underway for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kashmir on January 13.

Following directions from Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kulgam, Sahil Sarangal-IPS, checkpoints have been set up at various locations along the highway. Security forces are conducting thorough vehicle checks to ensure the visit goes smoothly and safely, an official confirmed.

Prime Minister Modi will be in Kashmir to inaugurate the Z-Morh Tunnel, a significant infrastructure project on the Srinagar-Ladakh National Highway. This tunnel is considered crucial for improving connectivity to the region, especially during harsh winters. It is the second major tunnel on this route after the Zojila Tunnel, highlighting its strategic importance.(KINS)
