Akashvani Srinagar Friday inaugurated its Special Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2026 Transmission with the commissioning of a dedicated, state-of-the-art broadcast studio established exclusively for the annual pilgrimage, officials said.
The facility has been set up to provide seamless, high-quality radio and digital broadcast services to Yatris and devotees across the globe throughout the Yatra period.
The dedicated studio was formally inaugurated by Deputy Director General (Engineering) and Head of Office, Akashvani Srinagar, Gurbinder Singh, in the presence of Ghulam Rasool Akhoon, Head of Programmes (Assistant Director, Programme); Suresh Chand Meena, Programme Executive; and other senior officers from the Engineering and Programme Wings.
Addressing the gathering, Gurbinder Singh described the special SANJY Transmission as a unique broadcasting initiative covering one of the country’s most challenging pilgrimage routes along both the Baltal and Pahalgam axis.
He termed the dedicated studio a significant technological advancement in pilgrimage broadcasting, equipped with the latest digital audio technology to ensure uninterrupted, high-quality transmission for the benefit of Yatris, devotees, and all stakeholders associated with the annual pilgrimage.
“Our objective is to make the broadcast accessible not only to pilgrims on the ground but also to devotees across the country and around the world through multiple terrestrial and digital platforms,” he said.
Gurbinder Singh said that the Special SANJY 2026 broadcasts will be available through 103.7 MHz FM Baltal, 100.1 MHz FM Pahalgam, the WAVES OTT Platform, DTH Services, the NewsonAir Android and iOS App, and the Akashvani Aradhana Channel.
To strengthen connectivity and ensure uninterrupted coverage in the challenging Himalayan terrain, two special FM transmitters have been installed at Baltal and Pahalgam, providing reliable transmission along the entire pilgrimage route to the Holy Cave, including remote and high-altitude locations.
The Special SANJY Transmission will feature a comprehensive range of programmes, including devotional music, live updates and daily reports from the base camps and Yatra routes, interviews with pilgrims and officials, informative capsules, feature programmes, weather updates, traffic advisories, and other information of public interest to facilitate the pilgrimage.
