Srinagar: MLC and PDP’s Srinagar district president Mohammad Khurshid Alam on Tuesday raised the issue pertaining to the daily wagers, casual labours and NYCs in assembly’s upper house, asking government to implement a comprehensive policy vis-a-vis regularizing their services.
During the zero hour in the legislative council on Tuesday, Alam said the daily wagers and casual labours discharging their duties in various state government departments are thousands in number and timely addressal of their genuine grievances is needed. He added that the daily wagers and casual labours have been playing vital role in serving the public sector since years and that the government must take a concrete policy in hand for their regularization. “I have full faith in the dynamic leadership of the chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as he is not the one who would leave the youth of the state in lurch as was the practise of the previous governments. I, myself, along with all the daily rated workers and casual labourers express optimism that soon the woes will be ended with the earnest hope of taking JK towards the new horizons of prosperity,” Alam said in a statement to KNS.
PDP leader stated further that the services of the NYCs have been utilized by the government in the past and there must be a policy implemented by the present regime of Jammu and Kashmir to end their woes. “What we are seeing at present is the hunger strike of young NYCs and daily wagers, asking the government to take call over their regularization. A comprehensive policy is a needed entity for these aggrieved youth as their talent could be channelized to transform JK into a prosperous state,” Alam said while speaking during Council’s zero hour.
