Amid Clashes, People March in Tral to Seek Release of Youth

Tral: Hundreds of people in Tral town of South Kashmir are assembling to march towards the local police station to seek the release of youth detained by police during protests today afternoon.

According to locals, the police arrested several youth after the Friday congregational prayers during the protests over the killing of most wanted militant Commander Abu Qasim in Kulgam gunfight on Thursday.

According to eye witnesses, the announcement was made on public address systems in local mosques and urged people to assemble to march towards the police station.

The protesters are chanting anti government and pro freedoms slogans amid intense clashes between the government forces and angry youth.  

The clashes were continuing when this report was filed.
