Srinagar: The army on Saturday commissioned the new physiotherapy lab in its school at Drugmulla in the frontier district of Kupwara. The lab has been dedicated to the differently-abled children since April 2010.
Presently 14 differently abled children are registered with the Udaan School Drugmulla. The school offers a safe, nurturing and personalized learning within a structured, happy and caring environment that allows the children to achieve their maximum potential. ‘Udaan’ stands out distinctively as the only school in North Kashmir undertaking this humanitarian cause.
Inaugurated by the GoC, Kupwara Gen Paramjit Singh, the army spokesman said that need was felt to further enhance the training faculty for the children so as to enable quick learning process.
“A Physiotherapy Lab has been established for enhancing the mental and physical attributes of the children. The inaugural function was attended by over 200 villagers and elders from Drugmulla and adjacent places,” reads an official statement.
It reads further: “This initiative is yet another in a series of such steps the Army has taken towards betterment of the people of the Kashmir. Acknowledged as such, the gathering which included prominent citizens, officials of civil administration and parents of the beneficiary children, was unanimous in appreciating the Army’s concern for these children which will help him lead happy, capable lives.”
