The Election Commission on Thursday issued a notification for the filing of nomination papers for the third phase of Assembly polls for 40 constituencies in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The polling for the third and final phase would be held on October 1.
As per the notification, the last date for filing the nominations will be September 12 . The last date for the withdrawal of candidature is September 17.
ECI said, 40 assembly constituencies will go to the polls in the third phase.
These 40 assembly constituencies are spread in the districts of Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipora, Udhampur, Kathua, Samba and Jammu.
The 16 seats that go to polls in the third phase in Kashmir include Karnah, Trehgam, Kupwara,Lolab, Handwara, Langate, Sopore, Rafiabad, Uri, Baramulla, Gulmarg, Wagoora, -Kreeri, Pattan, Sonawari, Bandipora, Gurez (ST).
In Jammu region, 24 Assembly Constituencies going to polls in the last phase include Udhampur West, Udhampur East, Chenani, Ramnagar(SC), Bani, Billawar, Basohli, Jasrota, Kathua, Hiranagar, Ramgarh(SC), Samba, Vijaypur, Bishnah(SC), Suchetgarh(SC), R.S.Pura?Jammu South, Bahu, Jammu East, Nagrota, Jammu West, Jammu North, Marh(SC), Akhnoor (SC) and Chhamb.
In the last assembly election held in 2014, the PDP had won 28 seats, the BJP 25, National Conference 15, and the Congress had won 12. Later PDP and BJP formed the government.
