Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Shareef along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz were sentenced to imprisonment in Avenfields Apartments corruption case.

However, Nawaz and his daughter Maryam were not present in the country as they have gone to visit Begum Kulsum, who has been suffering from some heath issues.

After a number of delays since morning the Accountability Court-I Judge Mohammad Bashir announced the sentence today offering 10 years of imprisonment to Former Prime Minister and the 7 years to his daughter Maryam Nawaz.

“Nawaz’s son-in-law Capt (retd) Safdar was also given a one year sentence. Moreover, court ruled that Nawaz was fined £8 million and Maryam £2 million,” said the report.

Earlier,  Maryam took to Twitter, urging the “PML-N’s lions” not to get unsettled no matter what the verdict will be.

“All of this is not new for your Nawaz Sharif, he has faced exile, disqualification, and life imprisonment [sentence] in the past,” she said further in the series of tweets.

Earlier, former Pakistan cricketer Imran Khan has mentioned in his statement that exiled prime minister tried to stitch the nod between two bilateral countries but the aggressive “anti-Pakistan posture” of the Indian government concluded with the current stalemate between the two countries.
