Russia and Bahrain are expected to deepen cooperation on international security issues, according to Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani.
Speaking during talks in Moscow with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Al Zayani said Bahrain values ongoing coordination with Russia on global platforms, particularly at the United Nations Security Council. He expressed hope that continued consultations would further strengthen both regional and international security.
Al Zayani also noted Bahrain’s view that Russia places strong emphasis on the safety of international shipping and reiterated confidence that political and diplomatic engagement can help resolve ongoing crises. In response, Lavrov reaffirmed support for the principle of freedom of navigation both regionally and globally.
The meeting took place in Moscow and followed their previous discussions in September 2025 in Sochi, held on the sidelines of a Russia–Gulf Cooperation Council strategic dialogue session.
