Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday announced the name of Karan Bhushan Singh, the youngest son of Brij Bhushan Singh, from Kaiserganj Lok Sabha seats of Uttar Pradesh.

The party has dropped Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who has been accused of sexual harassment by women wrestlers, and fielded his son Karan from the seat.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, Brij Bhushan won the election from Kaiserganj by two lakh votes.

The other name which was announced by the party was, Dinesh Pratap Singh who will contest for the Rae Bareli seat.

However, Congress has not yet announced its candidate in Rae Bareli. It is believed that someone from the Gandhi family will contest the elections from here.

Dinesh Pratap Singh is an Uttar Pradesh Minister of State (Independent Charge) and a BJP leader. He had earlier fought the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Raebareli constituency, where he was defeated by Congress leader Sonia Gandhi.

Raebareli has been the Congress’ stronghold. Congress veteran Sonia Gandhi had been an MP from Raebareli since 2004. She had announced earlier this year that she’ll be not contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.
