Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was now facing the consequences of the politics it had itself nurtured over the years.
Reacting to Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s ‘traitor’ remark on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union Home Minister Amit Shah, Mehbooab said that after 2014, the BJP had been calling everyone a traitor.
“..When Muslims are threatened, abused, and their houses are bulldozed, there is no hue and cry…Why is there so much commotion if Rahul Gandhi has said something? This has become the language of the BJP.
It was the BJP that started calling Muslims and secular persons traitors and telling them to go to Pakistan.
Now they say go to Iran,” she told reporters in the Shopian district after a party function.
Mehbooba said the current situation was a consequence of the politics pursued by the BJP over the years
.
“The seeds that the BJP has sown in this country are now bearing fruit, and the same is coming back to them,” Mehbooba said.
