A blast killing at least 5 people and seriously injuring four more, occurred after a suicide bomber detonated himself at Islamabad’s Terlai Imambargah area on Friday, a day marked by weekly prayers in Pakistan.
Eyewitnesses told UNI that the final toll is likely to be higher as “at least a score of people were affected.”
The explosion occurred at the Terlai Imambargah, located in the Shahzad Town area of Islamabad. The suicide bomber detonated himself near the gate after entering the premises, those who witnessed the attack said.
Police and rescue teams rushed to the spot and began rescue operations after the blast occurred.
Pakistan on Thursday had said it had succcesfully concluded operations against Baloch Liberation Army, claiming the deaths of 216 militants in targeted offensives. This offensive was launched after the BLA carried out province wide attacks in Balochistan over the previous weekend.
