Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari on Thursday urged the administration to ensure adequate arrangements for the smooth observance of the holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram.

In a statement, he said, “As the sacred month of Muharram-ul-Haram is about to begin, I urge the administration to ensure all necessary arrangements for its smooth observance”.

The first Islamic month Muharram is likely to begin from July 8 subject to the appearance of crescent.

The administration must ensure the availability of essentials, medical facilities, and an uninterrupted supply of potable water and electricity throughout this revered month, especially in Shia-dominated areas across Jammu and Kashmir, Bukhari said.

The Apni Party President said the relevant departments should ensure proper cleanliness and sanitation measures in and around Imambaras and other significant religious places.
